The Cheyenne and Arapaho Native American Caregiver Program benefits tribal elders (55 and older) who are in need of home care. The family caregiver (primary caregiver) will select a respite outside of the home and he/she will care for the elder two hours a day, Monday through Friday. The program is provided for a period of eight (8) weeks for each elder in need of home care.
In addition to the respite provided, the program also provides information, assistance, counseling, training, nutrition tips, support, and other supplemental services for those caring for an elder.
An application must be submitted along with a physician’s note stating outside respite care is to be provided. Home visits are set up during the eight-week period to ensure the elder is receiving the assistance needed.
