In 2007, the Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes received the Bureau of Justice Assistance, Tribal Courts Assistance Program Grant and as a result, the Probation Office was developed. The Probation Office works with the Court System in monitoring and counseling offenders who are on active probation or who have been assigned community service or other alternatives to incarceration. The Probation Office is present during criminal dockets and available to provide probation assessments or assistance in locating substance abuse treatment services and transportation.
The mission of the Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes’ Probation Office is to promote public safety and develop positive change in offender behavior by improving their ability to live productively and lawfully.
