Established in 2010, the Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes Office of Records Management (ORM) works to properly preserve and maintain the Tribe’s records. In addition to developing a process of managing current records, ORM has been acquiring historic Tribal records and documents so that they too can be preserved.
These records are being collected to create an online database of information, documents, and history related to the Tribal government that will be accessible to everyone, now and in the future.
The Office of Records Management continues to build the foundation for this department as called for in the Constitution of the Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes. The tribes recognized the need to house the documents of the tribal programs and departments in one central location.
Administration of tribal records not only saves time and money but also ensures a responsible and accountable government. We work with many departments and have records officers that we stay in contact as needed. Each branch in our government has many departments with documents and files that we house and will eventually house in order to store, archive and preserve our tribes’ history.
