Through a variety of programs and services, the Cheyenne and Arapaho Suicide Prevention Program works to raise awareness and create a greater understanding of the importance of mental health in an effort to prevent suicide among our tribal members. These programs are designed to help those who may be struggling with depression while also educating others on the signs that a friend or loved one may be dealing with mental health issues and suicidal thoughts. In addition to helping to prevent suicide and helping those fighting depression and mental health issues, the Suicide Prevention program also works to provide help, resources, and intervention to reduce the stigma associated with mental illness.
